The Chairperson, Hon. Regional Minister, Hon. Members of Parliament, Central Regional Director of the Ghana Education Service, Headmistress and Staff of Mfantisman Girls Senior High School, Parents, Students, Distinguished Invited Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen, I am excited and honoured to join the celebration of the 57th Year Speech and Prize-Giving Day of Mfantisman Girls’ Senior High School as a Guest of Honour. It is always an exceptional joy to return to our revered school. As a proud “old girl” of our celebrated institution, the bliss of honouring such an invitation is invaluable. Promoting high academic standards in an educational system enables students to know and appreciate what to aim for. Such an endeavour allows every student, every parent, and every teacher to share in common expectations of what students should know and be able to accomplish. Ensuring high academic standards and entrepreneurship with the girl child in focus will help generate coherence in our educational practices, ensure equity and alleviate the role of women in our socio-political and economic space. The urgent need for creativity and entrepreneurial development, founded on high academic standards, is a clarion call on all of us to put the girl child first, not only to ensure gender equality, but to justify the need for it.
The “Free SHS Policy” adopted by the government, coupled with equitable access to secondary education will align teacher retooling with technology enhanced methods of learning and assessment practices, that will contribute immensely to the promotion of high academic standards and entrepreneurship. I want to commend the Headmistress and her dedicated staff for their good work, and encourage them to continue the exceptional work. To the students, continue to study and make your books a priority. Education is the only engineering tool to shatter the proverbial “glass ceiling”, hence, let that be your focus and work assiduously in respect. Congratulations to all awardees and to those without awards, let today be an encouragement and a strident call to get you to worker harder in respect of your studies.
My doors are always open to Mfantisman Girls Senior High School. It has been a pleasure being here today. Thank you.
